The Plant Escape is owned and operated by Ted and Elizabeth Mark, who originally founded the organization in 1992, with one mission in mind: To provide superior products and professional services in a manner that exceeds their clients' expectations.
Ted's interest and knowledge of plants began while he was a plant care technician at California Street Nursery, which was then sold to Podesta Baldocci. He was promoted to General Manager in 1988, and was instrumental in making Podesta Baldocci's Interior Plantscape division one of the largest and most successful companies of its kind. Elizabeth studied horticulture at San Francisco City College, and also studied floral design. She earned her Master's Degree in Industrial Design at San Francisco State University in 1992, with an emphasis on Presentation Media Systems for the Interior Plantscapist, for which she received the Distinguished Achievement Award.
