Interior Plant Service San Francisco
My favorite indoor and outdoor plant is the Dracaena, the Dragon Tree (Dracaena marginata). It is an attractive, stiff-leaved plant with green sword-like, red-edged leaves, and you can find them at an interior plant service San Francisco. The plant has narrow, slender gray stems topped with shiny, arching leaves. Whenever I visit a Plant Rental San Francisco or Mexico, I see these plants as landscaping frequently. They can reach 20 feet in warm outdoor climates, and their leaves appear in puffs like the hair of a pure-bred poodle.

The Spruce tells us that, “The outdoor varieties can develop tiny and fragrant white flowers in the spring, followed by circular yellow-orange berries. When grown as an indoor plant, flowers and berries rarely appear.”
This small tree will grow to about 20 feet, but most of us see the plant in a pot and kept pruned to 6 feet or less. It is great for indoors because it tolerates a wide range of temperatures.
Toxicity of Dracaena Marginata
Beautiful as it is, the plant is also poisonous. The Spruce says, “…it's not harmful to humans, but the leaves are incredibly toxic to cats and dogs. Cats, in particular, seem fond of chewing on the leaves, which contain poisonous alkyds.”
Origin of Dracaena
Dracaena or Dragon Trees are native to parts of Africa, Asia, and Australia and Central America, and the northern part of South America. More than 120 different dracaena varieties exist globally, ranging from the noble trees to smaller shrub-like plants. They are lovely as houseplants because they can withstand low light and quite a lot of neglect
Some say the dracaena originated in an Indian legend of a fight between dragons and elephants, who were mortal enemies and fought continuously. Once, after another bloody encounter, a mortally wounded dragon and an elephant fell near each other. Their wounds were bleeding, and when their blood mixed, the first dragon tree appeared on that spot. And its sap was a red color. Today, when you cut the stems, it bleeds red.
